The IBSS Faculty
The Community Service Programme at IBS is designed to teach students real-world skills, instill in them a strong sense of responsibility and commitment, and benefit the wider community. This program takes students out of their comfort zone, allowing them to nurture their passions and make a difference in society.
Embedded within the programme are the principles of civic responsibility and purposeful action, with a focus on the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This integration ensures that our community service projects align with global efforts to create a sustainable and equitable world.
Collaborating closely with Charity World, a UK-based charity that supports street children and village schools in India , our students engage in service learning projects that complement their classroom studies. By addressing local and national issues through hands-on projects, students are able to reflect on their experiences and develop solutions to real-world problems
Through initiatives such as tree planting, organizing Sports Day for differently-abled students, providing shelter for street animals, and donating essential items like books, toys, and food, our programme empowers students to address social and environmental issues. These experiences not only contribute to the community but also help students develop into compassionate and well-rounded individuals.
We have embarked on an ambitious journey to adopt 100 schools across India. We will finance and ensure that these schools have a good infrastructure and quality education in line with any good school. This includes repairing existing buildings, building new classrooms, toilets, libraries, providing sports facilities and all the necessary teaching equipment. All schools under this project will be supported on a long-term basis.

The second school under this project was opened in January 2016, and jointly, the two schools currently support 100 children in full-time education. We are in the final stages of opening our next schools in Noida, Delhi and Gurgaon.
The CAS Programme at IBS has been running the Annapoorna Project for more than 15 years. The project involves our students running skill-based sessions with girls and women from the nearby settlement. There is a needlework class for women and sessions on art, dance, cervical cancer, financial literacy and more.

CAS forms a core part of the IB Diploma Programme and is an essential part of every student’s DP experience. It is woven into the fortnightly timetable and provides real and purposeful activities to develop students into knowledgeable, principled and caring individuals through experiential learning.
A wide variety of CAS experiences such as creating music, teaching martial arts to girls for self-defense, spreading warmth through donations, and raising awareness through mental health projects play a great role in bridging the gaps to bring communities closer.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, service learning had moved to an online model with students initiating activities locally from their global locations, in the spirit of Think Global, Act Local.
